Disclaimer: This is not a hate post. They say that honesty is next to godliness, right? Aww?
I always believed myself to be a very positive person and as much as possible, I do my best to brush off negative vibes around me. I want a happy disposition in life. But I guess it's true that life is not just about happiness. It can also be about a ridiculous portion of boneless lechon belly on your plate. Huh!
Early this morning, my friends and I dined in Brewmance Cafe. If you're from Cebu, this little restaurant is located in Skyrise 1, IT Park and operates 24/7. I've eaten here several times before especially when I had to eat alone and didn't want to be bothered by anyone. So far, their food was great especially the creamy chicken salpicao and mango float. The chef was accommodating and the service was just fine. Now I'm not really the type of person who would reprimand a waiter if he did something wrong. I usually just sit back, relax, inhale, exhale, and fake a smile. Forgive and forget. But what happened today was just unbelievable which finally made me say, This is it! I'm never coming back here.
I ordered their boneless lechon belly for Php65 with free iced tea. It was actually the third time I ordered it. For the first time (I don't know how long ago was it), the portion was acceptable, not really what we expected but we could live with that. For the second time (just 4 months ago), it was already alarming. We ask if that was really the portion they usually serve and they said yes. Ok fine. I'm not sure but I think we said we're never coming back but we did! Oh right, by virtue of no choice. Being that I believe in second chances (or third), I ordered the same thing hoping that it would be different this time. But to my horror (I'm not exaggerating), it was even worse, worst!
See that little portion of pork up there? That was it! Are they freakin kidding me? I know I'm skinny but that doesn't mean I don't eat much. When this first arrived on our table, the lechon belly was on top of the rice and it made it seem like I just ordered plain rice with cute little toppings on it. I mean, you judge (and you can ask my friends to be witnesses). I don't know if it's because the chef was different this time or what but whatever it is, I'm sorry but it was really absurd. Nothing personal, this is just with all honesty. And when I told the waiter (in my local dialect), "Is this really it? Are you joking? Can you please add some more?" He did not even acknowledge me. Arggh, people. For half a second, I thought of giving them back my food. But that's it. It may have been an isolated case I don't know but that was it, really. And please don't get me wrong, one of these days, if you get to visit this place, you may have an entirely different experience and I hope it's positive.
I think all of us would always want to get the value for our money. Php65 is just that. Not big a price but in a larger context, it's like paying Php500 for nothing.
Good thing I was saved by McDonald's pancakes with butter and honey syrup plus free water. Aahhh, the joy of simple food! Happy weekend! ♥
How about you? Have you ever had a similar experience? :)
